Steps for Selling Your Home

Below are the steps to take to get your home on the market: 1 . Schedule an appointment for a Realtor to visit your home. 2 . Tour the Realtor through your home, pointing out the details that make it special to you. 3 . The Realtor will create a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA). This is done by searching for recently-sold homes in the area that are similar to yours. This CMA will give you an idea of what your house may sell for in today’s market. o Important note: The CMA is more accurate than Zillow’s Zestimate. That’s because Zillow doesn’t know all the details of your house, specifically improvements and overall condition. 4 . The Realtor will schedule a 2nd visit to your house to go over the CMA with you. The Realtor will recommended a price to list your house for, as well as point out any improvements that help your house to sell faster. 5 . When you’re ready to put your house on the market, the Realtor will have you sign a Listing Agreement, take photos and measurements, and put your home on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). From here, it goes to hundreds of websites (like Zillow and Trulia), as well as in local print ads. 6 . Wait for a buyer! Important note: It’s ok to get more than one opinion. Keep in mind, however, that the highest price isn’t always the best price to list your house for. A house that’s priced right will sell quickly. One that is overpriced will sit on the market for a long time.
